Conlog Case Study
Conlog is a global leader in metering solutions for utilities, municipalities, and property management companies with a footprint spanning South Africa, South America, the Middle East, and Africa.
Khokhela has been the preferred remuneration service provider for Conlog since 2016, where it has aided with the company’s remuneration policies and practices. Khokhela has worked with Conlog to draft and structure the total remuneration offering which has assisted Conlog to continue to meet or exceed shareholder’s expectations.
One of the initial priorities was to develop a short-term incentive plan (STIP) for the executives and employees. Khokhela, with the HR Executive as the project sponsor, through a series of workshops with the key executives, designed the most appropriate best-of-breed annual incentive scheme that aligned the objectives with those of the shareholders. The scheme was implemented in 2018 and has continued, with a few adjustments each year, to motivate and reward the company’s employees for achieving desired levels of performance. The scheme not only incentivised and made sure that each participant performed individually but also encouraged teamwork. The scheme has stood the test of time well by being adaptable as the company’s strategy, structure and objectives have changed because of the company’s growth.
The HR Executive and the executive team believe that the total remuneration review and especially the STIP, greatly assisted in motivating all the employees and executives, avoided unnecessary pay issues, empowered the managers, and rewarded all the participants who performed.
Ahmed Ashruf, the HR Executive comments: “I hereby highly recommend the services of Laurence Grubb and Khokhela Remuneration Advisors. The level of professionalism, agility, advisory and support has assisted Conlog to drive and achieve business expectations whilst ensuring a motivated workforce over the past 6 years”.
